IVF Treatment in India for International Patients & NRIs

Why Choose India for IVF Treatment? And Why Wellspring?
When couples search for “IVF treatment in India”, they are looking for three things: clinical excellence, transparent costs, and a doctor they can trust. Wellspring IVF delivers all three under one roof.
India's Position as a Global IVF Destination
India is among the top five destinations globally for medical tourism for fertility treatment. The country’s regulatory framework for Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) has been strengthened significantly through the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021, which mandates strict standards for IVF clinics, embryology laboratories, and donor services. This legal structure means international patients receive the same high standards of safety, ethics, and clinical practice that they would expect in any OECD country — at a fraction of the cost.
Female Infertility
Advanced Embryology Laboratory
Our Class 10,000 cleanroom IVF laboratory maintains the highest air purity standards, supporting advanced procedures including Day 5 Blastocyst Culture, IMSI, PGT-A Genetic Testing, Laser Assisted Hatching, and Time-Lapse Embryo Monitoring.
Direct Access to Dr. Pranay Shah
Unlike larger corporate fertility chains, every international patient’s treatment protocol is personally designed and monitored by Dr. Pranay Shah — M.S. Obs & Gynaecology, 15+ years of experience, 6,000+ IVF cycles performed.
Affordable IVF Treatment in India — No Hidden Costs
We believe financial transparency is as important as clinical transparency. You receive a complete, itemised cost estimate after your consultation. There are no international surcharges or hidden billing surprises.
Dedicated International Patient Coordination Team
A dedicated coordinator is assigned to your case from enquiry to discharge, managing communication, document collection, visa invitation letters, and accommodation guidance.

Wellspring IVF strictly follows India’s ART Act 2021 and PCPNDT Act. We do not recommend unnecessary procedures. Every treatment decision is clinically justified and clearly explained.

How IUI Works - The Complete Step-by-Step Cycle
Many patients are surprised by how straightforward an IUI cycle is. There is no egg retrieval. No embryo culture. No laboratory fertilisation. The entire cycle follows your natural menstrual calendar, gently guided by monitoring and mild medication.
Initial Contact — Reach Us From Anywhere in the World
Your IUI cycle begins on Day 1 of your menstrual period. A baseline transvaginal ultrasound is performed to assess uterine lining thickness, resting antral follicles in both ovaries, and to confirm no residual cysts from the previous cycle.
Pre-Consultation Assessment — Your Medical History Review
Our team will conduct a brief pre-consultation assessment by collecting basic information about your medical history, previous fertility investigations, and prior treatments attempted. This allows Dr. Pranay Shah to review your background before your consultation, so the video call covers what actually matters — not admin.
Video Consultation with Dr. Pranay Shah
A dedicated online video consultation is arranged at a time convenient for your time zone. During this consultation, Dr. Pranay Shah will review your previous reports in detail, explain the recommended fertility procedure (IVF, ICSI, IUI, Donor Egg IVF, Surrogacy, or surgical intervention), outline the expected timeline, and provide a transparent, itemised cost estimate for your treatment. No vague figures — just honest, complete information.
Document Submission for File Creation
Once you decide to proceed, our coordination team will request the following documents: (1) Scanned copies of both partners’ passports; (2) Email addresses and contact numbers for both partners; (3) Residential address in your native country; (4) All previous fertility investigation reports, including semen analysis, hormonal profiles (AMH, FSH, LH, TSH), ultrasound scans, and any prior IVF summary sheets. These documents are used to create your official patient file.
Medical Invitation Letter (Foreign Nationals Only)
For foreign nationals who require a Medical Visa, Wellspring IVF will issue an official Medical Invitation Letter on hospital letterhead. This letter contains a unique generated file number assigned to your case. Using this file number, both you and your husband/partner can apply for a Medical Visa and Medical Attendant Visa respectively, through the Government of India’s official online visa portal at indianvisaonline.gov.in.
Arrival, Treatment, and Ongoing Care
Upon your arrival in Ahmedabad, our team will coordinate your first clinic appointment, baseline investigations, and treatment commencement. Throughout your stay, you will have direct access to your coordination team for any logistical, medical, or personal support needs.
Why Choose India for IVF Treatment? And Why Wellspring?
When couples search for “IVF treatment in India”, they are looking for three things: clinical excellence, transparent costs, and a doctor they can trust. Wellspring IVF delivers all three under one roof.
Medical Visa — For the Patient
- A Medical Visa (MED) is issued specifically for foreign nationals seeking medical treatment in India at a recognised medical institution.
- The Medical Visa is typically granted for up to one year, or for the duration of treatment — whichever is shorter. Multiple entries are permitted.
- You will require your Wellspring Medical Invitation Letter (which we issue upon confirmation of your treatment) to apply for this visa. The letter contains your unique file number, hospital details, and confirmation of your treatment.
- Apply online through the Government of India’s official visa portal: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in
- Submit the application at the nearest Indian Embassy or Consulate in your country, or use the authorised Visa Application Centre (VAC).
Medical Attendant Visa — For the Husband / Partner
- Your husband or partner must apply for a Medical Attendant Visa, which is issued to persons accompanying a Medical Visa holder for the purpose of attending to them during treatment.
- The Medical Attendant Visa is usually issued for the same duration as the patient’s Medical Visa.
- The attendant visa application must cross-reference the patient’s Medical Visa application and the Wellspring Invitation Letter file number.
Important: NRIs, OCI Cardholders & Indian Passport Holders
No Medical Visa Required
NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders, and holders of Indian passports do not require a Medical Visa to receive treatment at Wellspring IVF.
Post-Arrival Formalities for Foreign Nationals
Upon arriving in India and checking into your accommodation, two important post-arrival formalities may apply to you:
Form C — Accommodation Registration
Upon arrival at any hotel, service apartment, or private accommodation in India, the accommodation provider is legally required to register your stay with local authorities by submitting Form C. This is a routine immigration procedure.
Most reputable hotels and registered apartment services will complete Form C automatically on your behalf. If you are staying in a private residence, ensure this is completed by the host.
If you need guidance, visit the official FRRO portal: https://indianfrro.gov.in
Frro Registration — For Stays Exceeding 180 Days
If your Medical Visa stipulates a stay exceeding 180 days in India, you are required to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) within 14 days of your arrival.
Registration is completed entirely online through the FRRO portal: https://indianfrro.gov.in/eservices/home.jsp
Our international patient coordination team will guide you through the FRRO registration process and assist with preparing the necessary documentation.
For standard IVF treatment cycles (6–7 weeks or less), FRRO registration is typically not required.
Your Treatment Timeline: Minimising Your Stay, Maximising Your Results
At Wellspring IVF, we understand that international patients cannot simply take unlimited leave from their lives. We plan your fertility treatment in India with deliberate precision to minimise your total time away from home — without ever compromising the clinical quality of your cycle. Your exact timeline will be confirmed after your consultation with Dr. Pranay Shah and depends on your approved treatment protocol.
Option A: Complete Frozen Embryo Transfer Cycle in a Single Visit
Single Visit Protocol — Approximately 6 to 7 Weeks
This option is recommended for couples who prefer to complete the entire IVF cycle without interruption.
Arrive by Day 2 of your menstrual period. Baseline blood tests and ultrasound scans. Ovarian stimulation injections commence (FSH/HMG).
Ongoing follicle monitoring via ultrasound and blood tests. Trigger injection administered when follicles reach optimal size.
Egg Retrieval (OPU) under mild sedation — a short, safe, and well-tolerated procedure.
Embryo fertilisation (IVF/ICSI) and development in the laboratory. Day 5 Blastocyst Culture. Embryo freezing (vitrification).
Endometrial preparation. Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) — a painless, catheter-based procedure taking approximately 5 minutes.
Beta-hCG blood test. Pregnancy confirmation ultrasound if positive.
Option B: Two-Visit Protocol (Recommended for Working Professionals)
This is our most popular option for employed professionals and couples who cannot take an extended leave from work.
Advantage: This protocol allows you to maintain your professional and personal commitments between visits while your embryos are safely cryopreserved in our laboratory.
To understand the full IVF process in detail, explore our dedicated IVF Treatment page. If Donor Egg IVF or Surrogacy is recommended, our team will provide a separate, detailed timeline and protocol specific to those procedures.

Conditions Treated at Wellspring IVF for International Patients
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I undergo IVF treatment in India on a Tourist Visa?
No. The Government of India strictly requires foreign nationals undergoing any medical procedure to hold a valid Medical Visa (MED). Arriving on a Tourist Visa for the purpose of medical treatment is not permitted and may result in visa rejection or deportation. Wellspring IVF will provide your Medical Invitation Letter to facilitate the proper Medical Visa application.
How do I share my medical reports before arriving in India?
You can securely share all your reports — ultrasound scans, semen analysis, blood hormone reports, previous IVF summaries — with our international patient team via secure email (drshah@wellspringivfsurrogacy.com) or directly through WhatsApp. We will review them before your video consultation with Dr. Pranay Shah.
How soon after my visa approval should I travel?
Once your Medical Visa is approved, we will coordinate your treatment start date with the beginning of your menstrual cycle. The ideal time to arrive is on or just before Day 2 of your period, as ovarian stimulation commences at this point. Our team will help you plan the exact travel date based on your treatment protocol.
What language is used during consultations and treatment?
Dr. Pranay Shah and our entire international patient coordination team communicate fluently in English. All reports, prescriptions, and clinical documentation are provided in English. Interpreter support for other languages can be arranged on request.
Can my embryos be transported internationally after treatment?
The international transport of frozen embryos is subject to the regulations of both India and your home country. It involves strict cryogenic logistics and legal documentation. Our team will advise you on the feasibility and procedures for embryo transport depending on your specific destination country.
What happens if I need to extend my stay unexpectedly?
Medical situations occasionally require treatment timeline adjustments. If an extension of your Medical Visa becomes necessary, our team will assist you in preparing the supporting documentation for a visa extension application through the FRRO portal. We handle this routinely for international patients.
Do you offer airport pickup services?
Yes. Our patient care team can arrange trusted, pre-booked airport transfer services from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) directly to your accommodation or the hospital. Please request this at least 48 hours before your arrival.
Is IVF treatment in India legal and regulated for foreigners?
Yes. India’s ART (Regulation) Act, 2021 provides a comprehensive legal framework governing fertility treatment, including treatment for foreign nationals and NRIs. Wellspring IVF is a fully compliant, licensed fertility centre operating in full accordance with this Act and all applicable ICMR guidelines.
